Field day of ATB at Fieldlab for Digital Agriculture On June 19, 2024, ATB hosted a successful Field Day at its research site Fieldlab for Digital Agriculture in Marquardt, Potsdam (Germany). The event showcased cutting-edge research and advancements in precision agriculture, focusing on high-precision sensor and model-supported management down to the individual plant. About 70 German as well as international attendees were introduced to innovative projects like EmeRGE, which studies the impact of calcium cyanamide-treated manure on greenhouse gas emissions, and IRRIWELL, a project aiming to achieve a deeper understanding about the productivity of water during the growing season. These projects exemplify ATB’s mission to improving soil conditions and increasing farming efficiency using advanced technological solutions. Soil-X-Change was also present at the event, with a dedicated stand, presenting its mission and objectives. Our team engaged with visitors and fellow researchers, explaining how Soil-X-Change aims to bridge existing knowledge on soil improvement solutions and practices and facilitate the pathway to end users, particularly farmers. We highlighted how the knowledge developed by EIP-AGRI Operational Groups and other EU and national projects will be used to create tools to deliver these solutions to farmers all over Europe. In addition to the research presentations, the event held a workshop titled “Digitalisation as a Trailblazer for Agrocecology”, focusing on site-specific fertilization in arable farming using a tractor-based N sensor. The workshop brought together farmers, stakeholders and researchers to analyse the sensor’s potential contribution to agroecology. Soil-X-Change works with synergy with D4AgEcol, a partnership that enables the dissemination of innovative tools for sustainable soil and farm management. Overall, the event successfully brought together a diverse interested audience, and showcased innovative approaches for diversified agriculture. |
