Soil-X-Change project presented at the international agricultural exhibition АГРА / AGRA in Plovdiv, Bulgaria

"Soil knowledge is currently scattered, while farmers and advisors need clear, reliable, and practical solutions. The mission of Soil-X-Change is to bring these pieces of knowledge together and build a European soil knowledge network". That was the key message of the presentation by the NAAS, delivered by Evgenia Borisova.

The project gathers knowledge and experience from Operational Groups and farmers across Europe, aiming to make proven and applicable soil practices more visible and accessible.

Evgenia Borisova (NAAS) presented the results of a survey among nearly 400 farmers from across Europe, focusing on their intentions, challenges, and the practices they apply in relation to soil fertility https://soilxchange.eu/result/deliverables

She also introduced the Practical Abstracts (PAs), published on the Soil-X-Change website: https://soil-x-change.eu/result/knowledge-materials

- Currently 15 Practical Abstracts are available (out of a total of 60)

- The PAs present practical knowledge and experience from the field

- They will be translated into Bulgarian language to ensure wider access

- Each PA will be complemented by videos, showing real-life application to help farmers better understand how the practices work in practice

In addition, Evgenia Borisova demonstrated the interactive dashboard, which includes tested practices and real experiments from multiple sources. https://quic.hu/dashboard

These practices:

Are implemented and validated in real farming conditions

Include analyses of costs and benefits

Can be compared across different regions, crops, and conditions

Ivanka Todorova (NAAS) addressed the scientific community, emphasizing that this living knowledge library can be continuously enriched with additional data and results—making comparisons more robust and strengthening the link between science and agricultural practice.

Soil-X-Change is creating a shared European space where soil knowledge is connected, tested, and ready to be used on farms.
